Located on Ambergris Caye, El Pescador has been hosting serious anglers in search of the elusive "Grand Slam" for decades. Although it is now considered an island, Ambergris Caye is actually the southernmost tip of the Yucatan Peninsula. Daily international flights into Belize City, coupled with a short commuter flight to Ambergris usually mean reaching the lodge with no overnights en route. The surrounding environs, gracious island hospitality and the abundance of bonefish, permit and tarpon make it very hard to leave!

El Pescador is a mahogany colonial lodge set right on the beach, facing the sea, surrounded by fragrant tropical flowering plants and the whisper of shady palms. Each of the main lodge's thirteen guest rooms face the sea and are just steps away from their swimming pool. All double occupancy guest rooms have private baths,electricity, overhead fans and air-conditioning.

El Pescador also offers "Private Villas" if you desire more private and up-scale accommodations. Their villas are two story, 3-bedroom, 3-bath homes, designed in a lock-off configuration, which enables you to rent a 1, 2 or 3 bedroom villa to perfectly match your individual needs, while ensuring your complete privacy. The fishing here can be astounding, and with recent bans on commercial permit fishing, things are only getting even better! At El Pescador, you can mix it up and fish all species throughout the week, or target your favorite quarry selectively. Fish from the comfort of their shallow draft pangas or visit some of the walk-wade flats for a more up close and personal approach to the flats. No question, there are lots of options here!

Bonefish: The bonefish grounds are only minutes from the lodge. Most of the fly fishing for bonefish is done from the bow of the boat, but there are flats that can be waded as well. The bonefish run from 2 - 5 lbs and although they don't grow unusually large, they are very plentiful, with schools of 15 to 35 often encountered.It's the perfect environs for anglers to get into salt water fishing as well as challenging enough for the experienced hand.

Tarpon : The El Pescador fishery has year round resident tarpon over 100 lbs. The fish are spread out over a 250 square mile fishery. In the late summer (July, August, September), migratory tarpon arrive, effectively doubling the tarpon numbers. Moon phases tend to effect tarpon more than other species. The conventional wisdom is to fish around the new moon, though this is only a guideline, not a hard and fast rule. In truth, good fishing during full moon weeks occurs all the time! Smaller tarpon tend to be in the lagoons and around shoreline mangroves, while the larger tarpon are most frequently found on the flats and deeper water cuts. Silver kings over 100 pounds are not uncommon, with occasional fish that top even 125 pounds.

Permit : Permit are most often encountered on the bonefish flats, though many of the tarpon flats host them as well. Smaller permit are usually found in schools that number 25 or more fish. Most of these school fish will be 5 to 15 lbs. Solitary fish and smaller groupings tend to host larger permit, which can exceed 20, sometimes even 30 lbs. Jack crevalle, barracuda, cobia and snook are also found on the flats and in the surrounding mangrove lagoons.

**El Pescador has a fleet of kayaks and canoes which provide access to an extensive system of lagoons behind their property. These boats are available at no charge to El Pescador guests. A bit of basic guidance and directions, and then you are off for your own bonefish and nature adventure! These isolated and beautiful lagoons are a great option for those guests that just can't get enough fishing in during our stay.

Food & Dining: Their restaurant specializes in fresh, local Caribbean cuisine. Meals are served both on their spacious outdoor deck or in their inviting indoor dining room. Guests dine together in the evening to encourage camaraderie and share the day's adventures. Each evening meal features a choice of two entrees or a multi-entree buffet.

2014 Rates: Everything is flexible at El Pescador: your package can include as many days as you would like. Fish every day or take some time off to relax, dive or snorkel (the world's 2nd largest barrier reef is right out the front door), take one of the lodge's many side trips or just relax by the pool and walk the beach.

The below rates are based upon 2 guests sharing a boat and double occupancy room. Other packages package options are available upon request

3 nights/2 days guided fishing : $1675 per person
4 nights/3 days guided fishing : $2270 per person
5 nights/4 days guided fishing : $2765 per person
6 nights/5 days guided fishing : $3260 per person
7 nights/6 days guided fishing : $3755 per person

Special "2-1" rates are available June 1 through Dec 15. Two anglers can stay for the price of 1 Single Supplement Angler - so in essence, a 20-25% discount. An example is a 7 night/ 6 day stay would cost each angler $2860 in June vs $3755 during the regular season.

Please call us for pricing if your plans don't follow the standard shared occupancy, lodging and fishing plan and we can quickly price whatever your plans might entail.

What's Included ; The number of nights lodging and days fishing specified in your package, roundtrip air, land and sea transfers between Belize City and El Pescador, 3 meals per day, hors d'oeuvres, local Belizean beverages consumed at their bar (including soda, beer and rum), complimentary use of all amenities (pools, internet, gym, kayaks, bikes, etc), hotel tax, GST tax and a welcome drink. Fishing includes either 1 or 2 anglers per boat with the best fishing guides in Belize for 8 consecutive hours.

Packages Do Not Include: Packages do not include gratuities for guides or hotel staff, imported alcoholic beverages, or items purchased in their gift or tackle shop. Park fees (if applicable), fishing gear (which may be borrowed based on availability), diving gear (which may be rented) nor gratuities.

Reservation Policy : A non-refundable deposit of 50% per person is required to hold both space and guides on all packages.

Cancellation Policy: * All cancellations must be received in writing at the lodge. Prior to 90 days 100% of deposit may be transferred to another date/angler.
* Between 45 - 90 days 50% of package may be transferred to another date or angler.
* Less than 45 days may not be transferred or refunded.
* All cancellations have a $100 processing fee per guest.
