Andy fished the 6 wt on the Bighorn in Mt. for two days, Oct 29-30th of 08 and here is his review:

"The six wt TCX will be a quick and easy replacement for my TCR for a couple of important reasons. The TCX flat out casts a mile, without nearly as much effort as the TCR, or any other rod that I have used. As expected, it threw a 200 grain Streamer Express line with an enormous streamer very efficiently. It was easy to pick up the sinking line from great distances and set the hook with authority. When the wind was down, the top 1/3 of the rod seemed to do most of the work for me. Easy strokes with very little force did the trick. When the wind started to howl and the 4" streamers started to act like kites, I was able to push a little more power into the forward stroke, flex the rod down more into the lower middle section, and develop sufficient line speed to cut through the wind. Thinking I was getting great at this, I switched to another rod that had always seemed to work very well while streamer fishing (same line, same fly) and quickly realized the TCX was just a way better rod. Switching out to a GPX WF 6, another fact became apparent. You can feel this rod a hundred times better at 20-30' with a dry fly than the TCR. It's not a ZXL or a soft action dry fly only rod by any stretch of the imagination, but it does a lot more than bang out 70-80' casts! It fishes well and is versatile."
