We love these reels. We have used them extensively for bonefish, tarpon, permit, salmon and steelhead and continue to think they are among the finest reels available on the market today- at any price!
In our opinion, the Nautilus NV Drag is without peer and up to ANY task under ANY condition. The Nautilus NV Reels are very lightweight compared to their peers, are machined beautifully, offer more bang for your buck and look great to boot.
As with most of the reels we sell, we will spool complimentary backing and finish it off with a bimini loop so that you can add a fly line easily. 20# on the 6/7, and 8/9, and 30# on the 10/11 and 11/12. Just make sure to choose right hand or left hand retrieve.

**It is important to indicate Left Hand/Right Hand retrieve preference when checking out as they come with factory installed drags that are uni-directional. Dealers or the factory can change direction at a later date if needed.
Andy rants, "I recently used the 10/11 with 300 yds of 50# gelspun on my 11 wt and landed the biggest tarpon of my life- somewhere between 110 and 120#. No big deal- but this reel blew me away. The drag was soooo smooth, even on the tighter settings when I was trying to close the last 10 feet between the boat and the tarpon. When a shark showed up as the guide was trying to grab the leader, all hell broke loose. Almost yanked the rod out of my hand, but let her run with 17 or 18#'s of tension and the reel never skipped a beat- never hesitated never did anything except let out line smoothly. The guide was up for switching out his reels when he figured out what had just happened!"

The Nautilus NV 5/6, 6/7, 8/9 or 10/11 are completely impervious to the elements and will outperform any fighting class reel on the market today. The NV series feature the a larger version of the CCF drag system compared to their Nautilus CCF siblings and stainless steel components have largely been replaced by ceramics and titanium. The only aspect in which the reel is exceeded in performance is by its slender looks and subtle beauty: Machined entirely out of aircraft grade Aluminum, no detail has been omitted, from its low profile drag knob and counterweight to the 100 and 200 yard backing markers on the inside of the spool.
All NV reels feature a titanium drag shaft and are loaded with the latest technology in high performance ceramic micro bearings; and since ceramics and titanium are impervious to the elements, you are guaranteed to spend less time worrying and more time fishing. Furthermore, the reel features a thrust bearing to thrust bearing drag design for effortless cranking resistance under any load, ensuring the smoothest line retrieval of any reel on the market. Using titanium and ceramics has allowed Nautilus Reels to downsize components, increase the drag surface by over 75%, and still decrease the overall weight without sacrificing the fighting class qualities that are the hallmark their products.
